Who is Chris Stamp?

Chris Stamp was one of the greatest band managers of the 20th century. The music producer was known for managing acts such as The Who and Jimi Hendrix.

Early Accomplishments

He was working as an assistant director at Shepperton Film Studios when he met Kit Lambert and they both worked on films such as Of Human Bondage and I Could Go On Singing.

Their quest to make a film about blossoming rock bands led them to approach The Who and ended up managing the band.

Best Known For

Between the 60s and 70s, he was co-manager and co-producer of the very famous The Who and also extended his expertise towards Jimi Hendrix. He was also a co-founder of Track Records.

He soon left the music scene and became a multi-certified therapist with a private practice set up in New York.

Chris was straight. He was married to Calixte Stamp since 1979 until his passing away. He was also previously married to Sally Burgess and was rumored to have had an affair with Linda McCartney some years back.

Family

He was one of the 5 children born to Thomas and Ethel Stamp (both late). He was a younger brother of famous Hollywood actor, Terence Stamp. He is also survived by his children Amie and Rosie, Nicholas and Edmund (his sons-on-law) and grandkids.

Religion

There are evidences to suggest he was raised in a Christian faith but there are no indications that he lived a Christian life. His religious views cannot be established.

He suffered from cancer and died in a hospital.

He was addicted to drugs and alcohol and willfully entered for a rehab program in 1987. This inspired him to want to help other addicts and abusers.
