In 1987, Thomas got his first movie role as Chris in Padamati Sandhya Ragam. 4 years later, he branched into the television industry with his role in She-Wolf of London.

Thomas has gotten the most popularity from his role in the hit television show Hung. His character as Ray Decker in these series earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination as well as a Satellite Award nomination.
