Growing up around shake & move and punk music, Matt began writing music from the age of 9 and even landed himself a distribution bargain at the age of 16.
He was signed on to Interscope Records by Jimmy Iovine after watching him play an acoustic version of She. He released his debut EP, Parachute in 2012.

He wrote some of the songs on Zedd’s 2012 debut album including Spectrum and Clarity, the latter which became a Grammy Award winning song.
