She decided to quit her court stenography training to pursue acting after college. While in college in 1978, she was crowned Miss Orange County and finished 6th at that year’s Miss California pageant.

She also made her acting debut that year in an episode of Fantasy Island and featured in 10 episodes of Delta House in 1979.

Best Known For

She has earned critical appraisal for her roles in films such as Dangerous Liaisons (1988), The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989), Hairspray (2007) and playing Catwoman in Batman Returns (1992). She earned a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for The Wizard of Lies (2017).
