Veteran TV executives don’t come more prolific than Duncan “Dickie” Ebersol. He is a popular American sportscaster who was a producer and top executive for NBC Sports. In 1996, a popular sports magazine named him “Sports Most Powerful Personality”.
At 20 years old, Duncan dropped out of a prestigious college to enrol as a researcher at ABC Sports for the 1968 Olympics. At 27, he joined NBC and co-created and established the revolutionary Saturday Night Live.
Best Known For
His efficacy is in ability to secure broadcasting rights for major sports events. His best known contributions to TV are Friday Night in 1983, NBC Sunday Night Football in 2006 and most significantly, Beijing Olympics in 2008 and the Super Bowl XLIII in 2009 both of which broke viewing records at the time.
Duncan is straight. He was formerly espoused to Susan Stafford for 5 years but after their divorce, he met Susan Saint James and they got wedded in 1981.
He is born to Charles and Mary Ebersol and has Josiah Bunting III as a half-brother. With Susan Saint James as his wife, they have 3 sons namely Charlie, Willie and Teddy Ebersol (Teddy lost his life in a tragic plane crash in 2004).
