Vera Farmiga

Vera Farmiga is a Ukrainian-American actress of great renown. She has also won awards as a producer and director. 

Early Accomplishments

During her teenage years, she was a semi-pro Hopak dancer with the ensemble, Syzokryli and during her high school junior year, she ditched soccer for acting.

After graduating from Syracuse University with a BA in Fine Arts, she debuted on Broadway in ACT’s The Tempest and a screen debut came in FOX’s TV series, Roar (1997).

Best Known For

Revered as the “Scream Queen”, she has starred in films such as Orphan (2009) and as Lorraine Warren in 4 films such as The Conjuring (2013 & 2016) and The Nun (2018).

Other noteworthy works of hers includes starring in the film Up in the Air (2009), the TV series, Bates Motel (2013-17) and directing Higher Ground (2011).

Sexual Orientation

Vera is straight and has been espoused to her heartthrob, Renn Hawkey since 2008 after dating for 5 years. Their relationship began just after she was divorced from Sebastian Roché whom she had eloped with in 1997.

Family

She is the 2nd child and 1st daughter of Ukrainian parents, Michael and Lubomyra Farmiga. Her brothers are Victor, Stephan and Alexander and sisters are Nadia, Laryssa, and Taissa. She currently mothers 2 children; son Fynn (b. 2009) and daughter Gytta Hawkey (b. 2010).

Religion

Originally born as raised in the Ukrainian Greek variant of Catholicism, she joined the rest of her family to become Pentecostal converts as a child. She is still a believing Christian till date.
