As early as age 4, Tommy already showed dexterity for his age. He won his first tournament at 5 and his second at 8 before he was recruited by Nick Bollettieri 3 years later.

After moving to Florida on tennis scholarship at 11, by the time he was 13, he had won 5 major international tournaments including become European champion. 

He became pro at 18.

His Grand Slam record stands at 3 Australian Open semi-finals, one French Open quarterfinal, one Wimbledon semi-final and 3 US Open quarterfinals. 

He won a silver medal at the 2000 Olympic Games and his 15 career titles includes a Masters at Stuttgart.
