His career was launched in the early 90's through minor league baseball where he played with the Gulf Coast Yankees. By the mid 90's he moved on to the major league playing for the New York Yankees.

In 2013, he ventured into business as he collaborated with Simon & Schuster publishing company to create Jeter Publishing. By 2017, he joined forces with the successful businessman Bruce Sherman and bought the Miami Marlins.
