She got a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from Boston University, even though architecture was originally her dream career choice. At 18, she landed her debut movie role in 1994’s It Could Happen To You.

Lovers of detective crime drama series Bones will easily recognise her for playing the part of Dr. Temperance Brennan. She also played the same role on one episode each of Sleepy Hollow and BoJack Horseman. Other notable works are Boogeyman in 2005 and The Perfect Family in 2003. She has been the producer of Bones with co-lead David Boreanaz.
