Who is Florence Welch?

For the first year English singer, participant and leader of “Florence + the Machine” sold about 100,000 copies of her first album.

Early Accomplishments

She visited Camberwell College of Arts but dropped out from it to start singing.
From the very beginning, rather gloomy themes dominated in her works.
In 2008, she created the album “Plans” with the group “Ashok”.
Her first work as a part of her own group was named “Lungs” and hit 1st place in the British charts.

Best Known For

The group wrote soundtracks to well-known films such as “The Great Gatsby”.
Welch is not only the leader, but also the only permanent member of the group, that is why the very name of the team is often considered her informal pseudonym.
The second album “Ceremonials” was also highly evaluated.
According to the charts, their most popular songs are “Kiss with a Fist” and “Dog Days Are Over”.

Religion Beliefs

She is not religious. In the “Bedroom Hymns”, she mentioned Christian images but Florence showed the interest to other religions.
“I love seances, witchcraft, heaven and hell, voodoo, gospel, possession, demons, exorcism and all that stuff... I’m not a religious person.”

Sexual Orientation

The singer is straight. She dated Stuart Hammond from 2007 to 2011 and James Nesbitt from 2012 to 2015.

Worth To Known

The band's name “Florence and the Machines” comes from the joke – “machine” was called the friend and one of the first co-worker Florence, Isabella Summers.
Welch from childhood claims to see ghosts.
Her mother is Harvard professor Evelyn Welch and her father is advertising specialist Nick Welch.
