Early Accomplishments
Billy's music career started in cooperation with his father. The two used to sing gospel songs.
A bit later, Billy created his own band Sly Dog (at the beginning of 80’s), but the real recognition came to his as a solo performer. In 1990, he signed a contract for recording with Mercury Records. Two years later, he hit the pop and country charts with his album Some Gave All.

Billy played a leading role in the TV series Doc. There he appeared as a country doctor Clint Cassidy.
In 2006, after the two-year break, he came back as Robby Stewart, playing alongside his daughter Miley in Hannah Montana series. In the series the two played father and daughter.
The following year, he joined a popular TV show Dancing with the Stars.
