Norm's career as a comedian started out through stand-up comedy gigs in Ottawa. In 1987, he got a larger platform performing in the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.

Norm is mostly recognised through the television show Saturday Night Live. He was a cast member on the show from 1993 to 1998.
