Michael Redgrave

Sir Michael Redgrave was thespian of British stage and screen. He was also a writer and a play writer. 

Early Accomplishments

His professional debut happened in 1936, when he played the role of Ferdinand in Love's Labours Lost.

The same and the following year he played in such plays as The Country Wife, As You Like It, The Witch of Edmonton, and Hamlet.

Best Known For

Michael Redgrave got the Best Actor Award during the Cannes Film Festival for his role in The Browning Version.  

He was knighted in 1959 by Queen Elizabeth II for his priceless contribution into theatrical art and got a title Sir.

Thought he had been married to actress Rachel Kempson till his dying days, Michael didn’t hide his bisexual orientation. His life was marked with the long homosexual affair with Noel Coward. According to The Telegraph (05/26/2003), the most outrageous affair happened not long after his marriage. That was Edith Evans, 20 years him older.

Worth to Know

There was another man in his life – Bob Michell. The two met on the set of Secret Beyond the Door. Bob was close to Michael’s family, his kids adored him.
