Geena Davis

Geena Davis is an American Oscar-winning actress, producer, screenwriter and former model. 

Early Accomplishments

In 1979, Davis graduated from the university and moved to NY to become a model. 

Three years later, she debuted with a small role in a comedy Tootsie. However, her real career started when she got a role in Family Ties sitcom. 

In 1985, Geena Davis tried to launch her own project – sitcom Sarah, but it broke all the expectations. 

Best Known For

She finally became famous with the appearance in The Fly, in 1986, and Beetlejuice, in 1988.

The same year she got an Academy Award for the role in The Accidental Tourist. 

In Thelma & Louise, a road trip movie, Geena performed together with Susan Sarandon. The actress shared that the movie and its idea of friendship changed her life views. 

Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media was founded in 2004. The institution researched some important issues concerning gender questions in the film industry.
