James Van der Beek

James Van Der Beek is an American actor.

Early Accomplishments

When he was fifteen, James asked his mother to take him to New York to start his acting career. 

He soon made his Broadway debut in Edward Albee's play Finding the Sun, and at the age of seventeen he already starred in the musical Shenandoah and made his screen debut in the film Angus.

Best Known For

Van Der Beek is best known for playing Dawson Leary on Dawson's Creek (1998–2003).

In early 1997, Van Der Beek auditioned for three television series pilots at once, including Dawson's Creek, where he received the role of the central character. The series was launched in 1998 and continued until 2003, for six seasons, collecting stable good ratings.

In July 2003, Van Der Beek married actress Heather McComb. In June 2009, the actor announced that they had broken up after living together for almost 6 years.

In 2010, he married business consultant Kimberly Brook. The couple has already had 6 children.

James Van Der Beek was born in Cheshire, Connecticut. He is the son of a former dancer and telephone company manager.
