Lee attended Lindenwood University before moving to LA in search of a career in film industry. At first, he became a casting assistant to a casting director. And then, gradually, his career went up and the man became a producer and director.

Family

The man was born in Philadelphia in the family of Clara May (Watson) and William Louis Daniels. His father was a police officer. Lee is the eldest among five kids in the family. His siblings are Cheryl, Lydia (aka Girlie), Maynard and Leah.  When William was shot, Lee was only 13 and he had to raise his younger siblings. Due to that, for many years, he didn’t want to have children.

But Daniels adopted his brother’s kids (twins Clara and Liam) after he was sent to prison. Clara and Liam were only three days old when it happened. 

Religion

The director and producer grew up in the oldest black Episcopal church.

Daniels received six Academy Award nominations, including Best Director. 

Lee and his ex-partner Billy Hopkins were the first same-sex couple to adopt kids in Pennsylvania.
