Ken Watanabe is a well-known talented actor from Japan.

Early Accomplishments

He became interested in acting when a director of England's National Theater Company, where he was studying, told him that acting was his special gift. His TV debut was in 1982 – in the series Michinaru Hanran. Watanabe’s movie debut happened when he joined the cast of MacArthur's Children. 

Best Known For

The actor is mostly known for starring in The Last Samurai. Other famous projects of Watanabe include Memoirs of a Geisha, Batman Begins, Inception, Godzilla, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Transformers: The Last Knight, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and more.

Ken is straight. He has been married twice. His first wife was named Yumiko Watanabe, they tied the knot in 1983 and separated in 2005. His second wife was Kaho Minami. The two were together from 2005 to 2018.

The actor is from Koide, Niigata. His father and mother were both teachers. 

He is a father of two biological kids: his son Dai appeared in 1984 and his daughter Anne saw the light two years later, in 1986. He also has one adopted son – Kaho’s son from her first husband.

At the age of 48, Ken became a grandfather.
