Early Accomplishments

While studying at New York University Hofstra, he met Francis Ford Coppola. James became interested in acting and in the 1960s he began to participate in Broadway productions. 

The first major project in the actor's filmography was the thriller Lady in a Cage.

Best Known For

A new stage in Caan's career started after participating in the creation of The Godfather. On the set, the actor worked with Marlon Brando.

Then, James appeared in the thriller The Gambler, the comedy Cinderella Liberty, the musical Funny Lady, and many others in the 70s and 80s.

In 2003, the actor returned to his acting career for a while. The drama Dogville and the comedy Elf reminded the audience of his talent.
