Godfrey Gao

Godfrey Gao was considered the first man supermodel in Asia. He was also famous for acting and representing Chinese culture. He died at the age of 35 from cardiac arrest on the set of the Chase Me show.

Early Accomplishments

Unlike the majority of models, Godfrey was returning to his motherland to work as a model in 2004. His career turned out to be a success and in 2011 he became the first Asian man to acquire Louis Vuitton's campaign.  

Best Known For 

Godfrey became famous to the wide audience for his acting talent. After several television projects he had quite successful parts in Wedding Bible (2015), Remembering Lichuan (2016), and Love is a Broadway Hit (2017) Chinese movies. 

Sexual Orientation 

Godfrey was straight. He had a three-year relationship with a model Bella Su at the moment of his sudden deceased.

Family

Godfrey’s family left Taiwan when he was a kid moving to Canada. His father, Tsao Tao-cheng, worked for Michelin Taiwan. His mother, Tan Say Tin, had Peranakan Chinese ancestry and was the winner of Penang beauty pageant. Besides Godfrey, his parents had two sons.

Religion

Even though Godfrey was not public about his religious beliefs, his funeral was held by a Buddhist tradition. This, however, might only represent his relatives’ religious views.

Godfrey’s real name was Tsao Chih-hsiang.

Chase Me had to shut down after Godfrey’s death. It was all about extreme physical pressure on the participants and could not continue after such an accident.
