Gerard Way

Gerard Way is an American singer and writer commonly associated with My Chemical Romance band. He is also known for releasing his own comic book series.

Gerard discovered his singing talent after performing in Peter Pan school musical. He also played guitar, though, was not successful as a band musician. This made him turn to art. Gerard acquired a fine arts degree and worked for Cartoon Networks.

Best Known For

For the wide audience, Gerard is most famous as a vocalist of My Chemical Romance. He founded the band in 2001 alongside the drummer Matt Pelissier. At some point, Gerard had to pick either guitar or vocal. He could not manage both. Way chose singing and hired Ray Toro to play a guitar part.

The career of the band began with his own-written song Skylines and Turnstiles dedicated to the terroristic attacks on September 11th.

Sexual Orientation

Way is straight. He married Lindsey Ballato, a bass guitar player known by the name Lyn-Z in 2007. He is known to have an encounter with Eliza Cuts.

Family

He was born to Donna Lee and Donald Way. Gerard once mentioned his parents were not interested in music at all. His grandmother Elena Lee Rush was the one to influence his passion for singing and playing the guitar. Mikey Way is his brother and also a bandmate.

With his wife, Lyn-Z Gerard has a daughter Bandit Lee Way (b. 2009).
