Larry Bird

Larry Joe Bird is known for his basketball career including coaching and the role of NBA executive. He is considered to be one of the most notable players ever.

Early Accomplishments

He used to play basketball at Indiana University and was given a scholarship for his sports achievements. Moving back to French Lick he works in municipal jobs and starts his Basketball career with Sycamores. He got into the NBA with the Boston Celtics in 1978.

Best Known For

He is best known for his professional success as a basketball player in NBA championships. He had 3 victories (1981, 1984, 1986 years). Larry was also awarded as NBA Finals Most Valuable Player in 1984 and 1986.

Larry Bird is straight. He had two marriages. His first wife is Janet Condra who he married in 1975. In 1989 he married Dinah Mattingly.

His mother Georgia had several jobs to support her 6 children, Larry, his four brothers, and a sister. His father Claude Joseph Bird was a Korean veteran. He committed a suicide after divorce with Georgia.

Larry has a daughter Corrie (b. 1977) with his first wife and two adopted children with his second wife, Conner and Marjah.
