Early Accomplishments
From a tender age, she moved a lot between Japan and America. At the age of 4, she began to learn to play the piano. While studying poetry, English literature and music at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, she began to exhibit her artistic prowess, using La Monte Young’s Tribeca loft as her performance space.
Best Known For
She is famed for both her conjugal and artistic collaboration with John Lennon, releasing 8 albums with him and another 14 as the lead of the Plastic Ono Band with songs like Walking on Thin Ice and Starting Over.
She has won 9 awards including a Grammy in 1982 for the joint album, Double Fantasy.

Yoko comes from an affluent family with Eisuke and Isoko Ono as her parents and Keisuke as her younger brother. Her first child is Kyoko Chan Cox (b. 1963) and her second is Sean Lennon (b. 1975).

Although Yoko was raised as a Christian and a Buddhist, she considers herself as a spiritual person, mixing her beliefs with astrology, mysticism and some Eastern philosophies.
