Zach Galifianakis

Zach Galifianakis is a 2-time Emmy Award winner as a comic film & TV actor, writer and TV show host.

Early Accomplishments

He abandoned earning his communication degree from North Carolina State and began teaching waltz in 1991 and did not go onto acting until his mid 20s when he made his debut in 5 episodes of Boston Common (1996-97).

He also had a 2-weeek stint as a writer on Saturday Night Live in 1996. 

Best Known For

He is widely recognized for his role as Alan in The Hangover films (2009-13) but has also starred in Due Date (2010), Masterminds (2016) and also in Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis (2019) which is the movie of his Primetime Emmy Award talk show (host since 2008).

On TV, he also starred in Baskets (2016-19).

Sexual Orientation

Zach is straight and has been married to his one true love, Quinn Lundberg (who co-founded the Vancouver-based Growing Voices charity) since 2012. The couple had dated for 2 years before tying the knots. They are parents to 2 sons; the first born in 2013 and Rufus (born 2016).

Family

He is the middle child of Harry and Mary Galifianakis with his brother being Greg and his sister, Merritt. He is a cousin of Washington Post cartoonist, Nick Galifianakis and nephew to the politician of the same name.

Religion

Baptized as a Greek Orthodox and attending church every Sunday as a Presbyterian while growing up, Zach appears to now be agnostic, hoping he can fully believe in God again.

A less known fact about Zach is that he is claustrophobic but can now ride an elevator, at least.
