Keylor Navas

Keylor Navas is one of the most influential Costa Ricans today. He has achieved global stardom as a formidable goalkeeper at club and international level.

Early Accomplishments

He began to play football at the age of 5 and soon found his niche between the sticks as a goalkeeper. He joined local side, Deportivo Saprissa in 1999 and made his professional debut at 19, winning 6 league titles, the 2005 CONCACAF Champions title and finishing 3rd at FIFA CWC in 2005.

Best Known For

He is cited as the best goalie in CONCACAF’s history and since his debut with Spanish giants Real Madrid, Keylor has won 1 La Liga title, 3 consecutive UCL titles, 2 UEFA SC and 4 FIFA CWC.

Asides winning very many other individual titles, he competed with the Costa Rican national team at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA WC, even reaching the quarter finals in the latter.

Sexual Orientation

Keylor is straight. He met retired glamour model Andrea Salas in 2008 and the pair tied the knots in a religious ceremony in 2009.

Family

He is born as Keilor Antonio Navas Gamboa, the only son of Freddy Navas and Sandra Gamboa and he has 2 sisters by the name of Keilyn and Kimberley.

He and and wife, Andrea have a son named Mateo (born 2014) and he is stepfather to her daughter, Daniela.

Religion

Keylor is a Christian and a very religious man. He is never afraid to speak about his faith and devotion and even met his wife in the church that they both worship at.

In 2017, the movie Hombre De Fe [Man of Faith] was released, depicting the life and times of Keylor.

Worth To Know

During the early days of his career, he was rejected by several clubs for “being too small” for a goalkeeper.

Outside football, Keylor is actually a very good stylist and barber. He sometimes gives his teammates haircuts.
