Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is one of Britain’s biggest acting talents, exceptionally proving herself over the years both on screen and on stage.

Early Accomplishments

She first appeared on stage at age 6, in a school play titled, My King and I and in her teen years, was head of her high school drama department.

At age 19, she debuted in the West End piece, Forty Winks at the Royal Court Theatre in 2004 and made her film debut in 2005 in Pride and Prejudice.

Best Known For

Nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA (won) and SAG for her role in An Education (2009), she has also starred in films like Suffragette (2015), Shame (2011) and Never Let Me Go (2011).

On stage, she has done brilliantly in Broadway and West End productions of The Seagull (2007-08), Girls & Boys (2018) and Skylight (2014-15) which she earned a Tony nomination for.

Carey is straight. After 5 months of dating and 9 months of being engaged, she and her sweetheart Marcus Mumford (of Mumford & Sons) tied the knots in 2012. They were pen-pals as kids but later lost touch.

She previously dated Shia LaBeouf in 2009 as well as Tom Sturridge and Eddie Redmayne.

Family

She is the younger child and only daughter of English (of Irish descent) Stephen and Welsh Nano Mulligan with her brother being Owain Patrick Mulligan.

She is a mother of 2 with her husband; daughter Evelyn (born 2015) and son Wilfred (born 2017).

Religion

Carey grew up in the Catholic faith but rather seems more spiritual and less religious. Her husband however, is the son of an evangelical church vicar.
