Who is Daniel Wu?

Daniel Wu is regarded as one of the most versatile actors in the Chinese-speaking Hollywood. He is also a fine filmmaker.

Early Accomplishments

He began to train in wushu at the age of 11 after watching actors like Donnie Yen and Jet Li in films. He modeled himself after Jackie Chan and in 1994, formed Oregon University’s Wushu Club.

After graduation, he went to Hong Kong and found small success as a model and made his film debut in 1998’s Bishonen.

Best Known For

He is probably most famous for his role as an actor and executive producer of AMC series, Into the Badlands but has also made major appearances in films such as Europa Report (2013), The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) and more recently, Warcraft (2016), Geostorm (2017) and Tomb Raider (2018).

Daniel is straight. He was in a relationship with Maggie Q before 2009 when he began dating Lisa S., finally tying the knots with her in 2010. He and Lisa became parents to a girl named Raven (born 2013). 

Family

Daniel and his big sisters, Gloria and Greta are all children of Engr. George (retired) and Diana (college prof.), both Shanghai natives. His older brother died when he was 2 years.

Daniel’s religious beliefs are unknown. Despite a source claiming he is Christian, he has not shown any sign of any religious belief.

He still does some modeling, being contracted as a spokesmodel by L’Oréal cosmetics and Seiko watches.

Outside that, he does music with the band, Alive with 3 of his friends. The band was created for the 2006 film, The Heavenly Kings.
