Who is Souleye?

Although not as known as his counterparts, Souleye is one of the best freestylers in the country. He is a rapper with 9 albums to his name.

Early Accomplishments

He began his art of writing at age 10 and then freestyling and rapping during his high school freshman year.

He dropped out of college after just a year and spent the next few years on the road with several other acts.

He released his debut album in 2003 titled Soul Sessions, a collaborative effort with rap act, Campaign.

Best Known For

Some of his well-known songs include Follow Your Heart and Snow Angel (featuring Alanis Morissette) from his recent album, Wildman in 2017.

He frequently collaborates with other artists such as BLVD, Backstreet Boys and Alanis Morissette.

Sexual Orientation

Souleye is straight. He and Alanis Morissette met each other during a spiritual exercise in 2009 and amazingly, got married just the following year.

Family

He was born in Massachusetts as Mario Treadway. He had a brother who committed suicide in 2003.

He is the father of 2 children with wife, Alanis; son Ever (born 2010), daughter Onyx (born 2016), son Winter (2019).

Religion

Considering how he met his wife, during a meditation in someone’s house, once can conclude that Souleye practices Transcendental Meditation. 

Worth To Know

After the death of his best friend in 2003, he withdrew into the woods to live alone. It was in the forest solitude that he wrote his entire 2nd album.

He appeared as himself in the 2015 docufilm, Sensitive: The Untold Story.
