Cuba Gooding Sr., the leading member of “Main Ingredient” got his chance to start a successful singing career as a part of soul band in the 1970s.

In 1971, a good fortune befell him to become a leading singer in “The Main Ingredient”. He remained the singer of this band for 45 years.

He also tried himself as an actor in the historical film “Children of the Struggle” in 1999.

His single “Everybody Plays the Fool” remains without a rival for around 20 years. Billboard Hot 100 put this composition #3 among all-genres songs.

Gooding had solo experience and performed “Mind Pleaser” and “This Christmas”. Another top song is “Happiness Is Just Around the Bend”.

His performances and unmatched voice won hearts of the audience. Many of them became hits and brought him and all band in general great recognition.

Unfortunately, there is no exact information about the religion he supported. The man preferred not to talk about his spirituals. Nevertheless, his wife Shirley is a follower of Christianity and rises children due to her beliefs. Therefore, he is supposedly Christian.

Cuba is surely straight. He married Shirley Sullivan in 1966 and the couple welcomed Cuba Jr., Omar, April and Thomas. They divorced in 1985 and the man married Gail Barbara Harris. They split up two years later.

In 1995, after almost 17 years, he remarried his first wife and they were together until his death.

His sons, Cuba Jr. and Omar, are building quite successful acting careers and Thomas is a musician.

In April 2017, Cuba died in his car. Daily Mail UK reported (21 April 2017) that it was an alcohol overdose. In the official statement addressed to all his fans, his wife and family wrote, “We again thank you for loving...many flowers, cards... We will never forget you. God bless you all!”
