She began dancing when she was 9 years and by the time she was 13, she was great doing en pointe but quit at 14 after getting disillusioned with the pressure.

Months later and with no prior acting experience, she pressed an agent to get her into acting and she made her debut in 2 episodes of All Saints and at 15, debuted on film in Suburban Mayhem.

She first gained fame for her role in 2008’s HBO series, In Treatment but is renowned for playing Alice in Alice in Wonderland (2010) and Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016).

Other films she has starred in include Stoker (2013), Crimson Peak (2015) and The Kids Are All Right (2010).
