He learned to play the guitar at age 11 to impress a girl in school. At 16, he won a national poetry contest and did brilliantly on his GCSE.
He began writing songs and poems while working as a grave-filler and after a year studying literature at University of London, he left and met his partner, Carl Barât in 1999.
Best Known For
He is a co-founder of successful band, The Libertines. He also created the band Babyshambles known for records like Down in Albion (2005) and Sequel to the Prequel (2013).
He is known for songs like Broken Love Song and Last of the English Roses (both 2009) and starring in the film Amy (2015).

Pete is straight. For 3 years each, he dated Lisa Moorish from 2002 and Lindi Hingston from 2008. He and Kate Moss dated severally from 2005 and in 2007, announced their engagement but split 3 months after. He and his Babyshambles ex-drummer, Irina Lăzăreanu were briefly engaged in 2007. There were rumors he dated Amy Winehouse but they were just good friends.
Family
He is the middle child and only son of Peter and Jacqueline Doherty. His siblings are Amy Jo and Emily.
He is a father of 2 children; son Astile (born 2003 by Lisa) and daughter Aisling (born 2011 by Lindi).
Religion
Pete was raised in the faith of Catholicism and nothing suggests that he has abandoned his faith.
Worth To Know
Afflicted with drug addiction troubles, Pete has frequented prisons and rehab clinics on many occasions. It caused alienation from his dad and a published book from his mom.
He is a socialist. He is also a devoted fan of English football club, QPR.
In April 2019 was hospitalised after a hedgehog spike lodged in his finger.
