Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand is an American entertainment legend. She has triumphed in every field she entered but has gained most fame as an actress, filmmaker and singer.

Early Accomplishments

Although acting was her main target, she began singing when she was 9 and even recorded a 4-song demo when she was 13.

In 1957, she had small roles in the plays Picnic and Desk Set but failure to secure an acting job led her to begin singing professionally at night clubs.

Best Known For

With songs like People, Evergreen and Woman In Love, she has sold over 72 million copies of her 36 albums, becoming one of the biggest female musical act of all time.

For Yentl in 1983, she is the first female to be producer, director, writer and the star of a feature film. 

She also starred in the films, Funny Girl (1968) and The Way We Were (1973).

Barbra is straight and has been married to James Brolin since 1998 but was previously married to Elliott Gould in 1963 until their divorce in 1971. She has also dated notable men in the past such as Pierre Trudeau (Canadian PM), Prince Charles, Bill Clinton and tennis icon Andre Agassi. Other notable men she has dated include Liam Neeson, Jon Peters and Peter Jennings.

Family

She is the younger child of Emanuel and Diana Streisand and her brother is Sheldon Streisand. From her mother’s remarriage to Louis Kind, she has a half-sister named Roslyn Kind.

She is the mother of Jason Gould and a stepmother to Jess, Molly and actor Josh Brolin.

Religion

Barbra has a long line of Jewish ancestry from both parents and was raised in the faith as well.
