He debuted on TV in the sitcom, A New Kind Of Family (1979-80) but was only 19 when he received his first of 6 Golden Globe nominations for his role in the 1983 TV film, Thursday Child. His breakthrough however came through his film debut that same year, starring alongside Emilio Estevez in The Outsiders.
Best Known For
He has starred in several films such as St. Elmo’s fire (1985), Wayne’s World (1992) and The Invention of Lying (2009) but has gained fame for his TV series roles such as in Brothers & Sisters (2006-10), Parks and Recreation (2010-14), Code Black (2015-18) and particularly, The West Wing (1999-2003).

Rob is straight and has been married to Sheryl Berkoff since 1991. They first met during a speed dating exercise in 1983 but did not begin dating until shortly before their marriage. Family
He and his brother Chad Lowe are children of Charles Lowe and Barbara Hepler. His parents divorced and his father soon had other children; Justin Lowe and Micah Dyer.
He fathers 2 sons with his wife; Matthew (born 1993) and Owen (born 1995).

Although he was baptized in an Episcopal church and has Methodist grandparents, he did not grow up religious and even married a Jewish woman.
