Who is Darius Campbell-Danesh?

Darius Campbell, also known as Darius Danesh, is a singer-songwriter and musician. His talents also see him serve as a filmmaker and actor.

Early Accomplishments

He attended the Glasgow Academy and while in his teenage years, he had a non-singing role in the Scottish Opera’s piece of The Trojans during the 90s. He also performed in her production of Carmen.

In 2001, he gained fame by competing in Popstars and was a finalist on Pop Idol the following year.

Best Known For

His debut single, Colourblind topped the UK charts for 2 weeks and his 2004 debut album, Dive went platinum. He also won the talent competition, Popstars to Operastars in 2010.

He played Escamillo in Carmen in 2010 and also played lead in a West End production of Chicago in 2005 and Guys and Dolls in 2007. 

He produced the 2016 film, Imperium.

Sexual Orientation

Darius is straight. He dated model, Jacqui Ainsley for 15 months in 2003 and soon began dating singer, Natasha Henstridge. They got engaged in 2007, called it off in 2010 got re-engaged and married on 2011’s Val’s Day. The marriage unfortunately ended in 2018 after a divorce filed since 2013. 

In 2016 he dated model, Daisy Lowe.

Family

He is the eldest son of Booth Danesh and Avril Campbell and his brothers are Aria and Cyrus. His father is Iranian, his mother Scottish and they are both doctors.

Religion

There is no information on his religion. However in December 2009, he took his father on a spiritual pilgrimage to Mecca which might suggest that he is a practising Muslim.

Worth To Know

After winning Popstars, he turned down Simon Cowell’s million pounds deal to work with Steve Lillywhite.

He also turned down an offer from oxford for one at Edinburgh University, just so he could be close to his family.
