He joined the Halmstad academy in Sweden as early as 5 years old but also played ice hockey and even got a call-up to the national U-15 handball team which he declined.
He was just 17 years old when he made his debut first team appearance for Halmstad and won the league cup that season. He won the league in 1997 and signed for Arsenal in 1998.

Sporting a trademark red Mohawk, his best days were with Arsenal where he was part of the famous 2004 Invincibles team and won 3 FA Cups and the 2002 league player of the season.
