Chris Rock is one of America’s top comedians and comic actor. He does everything between stand-up comedy and voice roles. He is also a filmmaker and a show host.
Early Accomplishments
Chris had a troubled childhood as he was constantly bullied. After dropping out from school, he began working at fast-food joints.
His first comic work was doing stand-up in Catch a Rising Star in 1984 before getting a small role in 1985 film, Kush Grove.
He met Eddie Murphy who mentioned him and gave him his breakthrough in Beverly Hills Cop II in 1987.
Best Known For
Asides from his various stand-up shows, he is probably best known globally for writing, developing and narrating the famed TV series, Everybody Hates Chris from 2005 to 2009.
He has also been cast in films such as 2005’s The Longest Yard, Head of State in 2003, both Grown Ups films (2010 & 2013) and in all of the Madagascar films.
Sexual Orientation
Chris is straight. He was married to Malaak Compton since 1996 and in 2014, revealed he had filed for divorce, citing his infidelity and addiction to porn as reasons. One of the he had cheated on his wife on is Karrine Steffans in 2005.
He has now been dating Megalyn Echikunwoke since 2015.
Family
Chris is the eldest son of Julius and Rosalie Rock. His other brothers are Kenny, Brian, Andre, Jordan, Andi and Tony Rock. His late older half-sibling Charles died in 2006. He is the father of Lola (born 2002) and Zahra (born 2004).
Religion
Chris was raised in a Christian family with both his father and grandfather being preachers. However, going by things he says during his comic arts, it would appear that Chris does not identify with Christianity.
Worth To Know
He gained wider fame in the 90s for being part of the Saturday Night Live cast.
He also hosted the 77th and 88th editions of the Academy Awards ceremony.
He was given his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003.
