Avril Lavigne, labelled “the Pop Punk Queen”, is a world-famous singer-songwriter. She has also recorded successes as a vogue entrepreneur, actress and philanthropist. 

Early Accomplishments

Recognizing her vocal prowess early on, her father built her a basement studio and she began to write songs and sing at county fairs at age 14. She won a radio competition to sing with Shania Twain in front of 20,000 people in 1999. 

She got signed to Arista Records in 2000.

Best Known For

She is the 3rd highest selling Canadian female vocalist after Celine Dion and Shania Twain. She has attained global fame with songs such as Complicated, I’m With You and Sk8r Boi in 2002 and Girlfriend in 2007. 

Her film credits include Over the Hedge and Fast Food Nation in 2006.

Avril is straight and has twice been married. Her first with Deryck Whibley in 2006 ended in 2010 and her second was with Chad Kroeger in 2013 but separated in 2015. 

She also famously dated Brody Jenner after her first marriage until 2012. 

She dated J.R. Rotem for 9 months, starting in August 2017 and has since then been dating billionaire heir, Phillip Sarofim.

Family

She, Matthew Levine (older brother) and Michelle Lavigne (younger sister) are the children of Jean-Claude and Judith-Rosanne (Loshaw) Lavigne. Through Matthew, she has Ryota Kohama as sister-in-law.

Religion

Avril grew up in a religious family and sang in church for a long time. The fact that she got married in a Catholic church leads us to believe she is one and still devout.

Right from a child, she suffers from ADHD and takes Ritalin. In 2014, she also suffered from Lyme disease.

She actively supports charities such as Amnesty International, Make-A-Wish Foundation and several others.
