Fondly recognised for his childlike allure, Matthew Broderick is an actor that has become iconic in his roles as a voice actor and stage performer. 

Early Accomplishments

After his athletic career was ended by a knee injury, he joined his father’s acting party and made his debut in a stage play, On Valentine’s Day when he was 17.

He made a screen debut in an episode of 1981’s Lou Grant and in 1983, he made a film debut in Max Dugan Returns, and starred in WarGames (Saturn Award nomination).

Best Known For

He is the iconic voice behind the Simba character in all 3 The Lion King films and for his roles in Brighton Beach Memoirs (1983) and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1995), he is a 2-time Tony award winner.

He is also famous for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986), The Cable Guy (1996) and The Producers (2005).

Matthew is straight and has been married to Sarah Jessica Parker since 1997 after dating for 5 years. 

Before her, he dated Jennifer Grey, Penelope Ann Miller, Helen Hunt and Daisy Foote, all for short periods between 1985 and 1988.

Matthew is born to actor and playwright James and Patricia Broderick as their only son. 

His elder siblings are Janet (now Kempt) and Martha Broderick. 

He and his wife are parents of James, born in 2002 and twin daughters via surrogacy, Tabitha and Matilda, born in 2009.

Matthew is culturally Jewish on his mother’s side but refuses to belong to any religious sect. He considers himself to be a true Christian.
