Solange Knowles

The very gorgeous singer-songwriter, actress and model Solange Knowles has carved a niche for herself in the “musicverse” rather than hide in her superstar sister’s shadow. 

Early Accomplishments

Growing up, she learned theatre and dance and made her first public singing performance at a funfair when she was 5.

She began writing at 9 and wanted to begin recording at 13. She toured with Destiny’s Child when she was 15 and replaced Rowland temporarily after she suffered a minor injury.

Best Known For

She earned her first ever Grammy Award and 5 others such as BET Award and the first ever Impact Award for Billboard Women in Music for Cranes in the Sky from her 3rd album, A Seat at the Table.

While her 2nd album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams in 2008 debuted at No. 9, her 3rd became No. 1 in the US. 

She starred in Johnson Family Vacation in 2004 and Bring It On: All or Nothing in 2006.

Solange is straight and is now married to Alan Ferguson since 2014 after dating for 4 years. 

She and Daniel Smith had been married in 2004 even as they were just teenagers, but divorced in 2007. She has been in relationships with J.R. Smith, Lil Wayne and Julius Peppers since then.

Family

She is the younger daughter of Matthew and Tina Knowles with her sister being the hugely famous Beyoncé. 

She also has Richard Lawson as a stepfather and hence, Bianca as a stepsister. 

She became a mother in 2004 to Daniel Julez Smith Jr. in 2004.

Solange is a Christian belonging to the Methodist denomination of the faith.
