David Carradine

Son of an iconic movie actor John Carradine, David Carradine was also an actor, as well as a martial artist and a musician. 

Early Accomplishments

David really became serious about becoming an actor after being discharged from the army. 

He got his first role in Armstrong Circle Theatre, a TV-series. 

After a few roles here and there, David got cast in The Royal Hunt, a Broadway show, which brought him his first wave of recognition. 

Best Known For    

David is most known for his role of Kwai Caine, a Shaolin monk, in a TV-series titled Kung Fu. 

Although the choice of a white person to portray a half-Chinese character did stir up a lot of controversies, David played his role very well and helped to bring Eastern culture into the Western media. 

He is also known for appearing in Kill Bill, part one and two, as Bill.      

David has played a lot of smaller episodic roles, and movies with him continued to come out even after his death.

Family 

David’s parents are Ardanelle Abigail and John Carradine. 

He is the oldest child in the family and has 4 half-brothers, Robert, Christopher, Keith, and Bruce.

David has been married a total of six times, and from those relationships he had three children, Calista, Tom, and Kansas. 

With his last wife Annie Bierman he was raising her children from a previous marriage: Max, Olivia, Madeleine, and Amanda.

David started to learn Kung Fu the martial art after his role in the TV series. He even received an award for promoting and popularizing it. 

Because of his parents’ very complicated marriage, David struggled a lot, it even drove him trying to commit suicide when he was just 5.

David unfortunate death came after an autoerotic asphyxiation gone wrong, a sexual practice that requires lack of oxygen coming to the brain, which can be very dangerous.
