Mary Steenburgen

Mary Steenburgen is a movie actress. 

Early Accomplishments

Mary studied drama at Hendrix College. 

She moved to New York to study at the Neighborhood Playhouse after passing an audition. After a few roles here and there Mary got noticed by Jack Nicholson, who gave her the lead role in Western Goin' South. 

Best Known For

Mary is most famous for her character of Lynda Dummar in the movie Melvin and Howard. This role brought Mary an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, and a nomination for a Golden Globe Award, for Best Supporting Actress as well.

Mary’s other works include The Brave One, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Philadelphia, Elf, Back To the Future Part III etc.  

Mary has starred in a lot of TV-shows as well, such as Joan of Arcadia and Orange is the New Black.

Mary’s parents are Maurice and Nellie Steenburgen. She has a sister named Nancy. 

She was married to actor Malcolm McDowell. They had two children, Lily and Charlie. 

Now she is with a fellow actor Ted Danson, with whom she is raising his daughters, Kate and Alexis.

Religion 

Mary hasn’t spoken publicly about her religion. Nonetheless, she had expressed anger towards the discrimination of the LGBT community in her native Arkansas state.
