As a little girl growing up, her initial passion was dancing as she studied ballet for 9 years but things changed when she developed cinephilia at age 10.

After being rejected by an agent on several occasions because of her age, she won an audition at the age of 15 and started getting small gigs such as hosting a TV show.

Her debut film Jamón Jamón in 1992 brought her to the limelight but she is best known for her parts in Vanilla Sky in 2001, Volver in 2006, Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2008 and Murder on the Orient Express in 2017.
