With an enthralling voice and deft guitar skills, British singer Chris Martin, songwriter and lead vocal of alternative band, Coldplay has etched his name in the hearts of music lovers.
Early Accomplishments
Being the child of a music teacher, music had always driven Chris. While still in his early teens, he was part of a band called The Rocking Honkies but it performed badly.
While studying Ancient World Studies at the University College London, and earning a first class in Latin and Greek, Martin bonded with 3 friends who later became Coldplay.
Best Known For
The band’s debut album in 2000, Parachutes was an outstanding multi platinum hit and it set the bar for their next 2 albums, A Rush of Blood to the Head in 2002 and X&Y in 2005 which were even bigger successes.
Their discography includes songs such as Yellow, Fix You, Paradise, Viva La Vida and also The Chainsmokers’ Something Just Like This.

Chris is straight. In 2002, he met Gwyneth Paltrow at his show and they both wedded each other the next year until their divorce in 2014.
Since then, Chris has dated Jennifer Lawrence for a year in 2014, Annabelle Wallis for 2 years until 2017 and Dakota Johnson since 2017.
He has also dated Natalie Imbruglia in the past.
Family
Born as the eldest of the 5 kids born to Anthony and Alison Martin, Chris’ siblings are brothers Alex & Richard and sisters Rosie and Nicola Martin.
He is the father of 2004-born Apple and 2006-born Moses, both with Gwyneth.

Worth To Know
The band was formerly named Pectoralz but they switched to Starfish. They got the name Coldplay from a band who didn’t want the name anymore.
