Glynn Turman is one of Hollywood’s veterans who has proved his talent in all styles of acting: television, film and stage. He is also a producer, director and a writer.
Early Accomplishments
He had his initial taste of acting in a Broadway piece titled A Raisin In The Sun in 1959.
5 years later, he became a regular on Peyton Place, a soap that aired from 1964 to 1969.
In 1970, he had his film debut in Carter’s Army which was later released on DVD with the title Black Brigade.
Best Known For
His most famous screen appearances are in 1975 movie Cooley High, on fan favorite sitcom A Different World that aired between 1988 and 1993, in 2002’s series The Wire and most recently in House of Lies between 2011 and 2016.

Glynn is straight. His first wife was Ula Walker with their 1965 union lasting until 1971.
In 1978, he walked down the aisle with Aretha Franklin but they were separated 4 years later and finally got divorced in 1984.
He stayed single until 1992 when he married his current wife, Jo-Ann Allen.
Family
He had 3 children with his first wife until his son Glynn Jr. was involved in a street fight and stabbed to death in 1986 aged 21.
